BORON


Boron is a trace element found in most plants and is essential for human health. When added to the diets of post menopausal women prevented calcium loss and bone demineralization, thus helps in treating osteoporosis. It also raises testosterone levels and builds muscle in men. 

Role in the Body

Boron helps to regulate the body’s use of calcium, phosphorous, and magnesium. Also it controls cell growth and thus helps to prevent abnormalities in growth. It is also used in external treatment of bacterial and fungal infections.

Sources

Fruits and vegetables, especially apples, pears, and carrots are good food sources of Boron. It is not found in animal products.

Deficiency Symptoms

Its deficiency leads to increased effects of stress on the body. A severe deficiency of Boron within the body may be partially responsible for tumours, cysts and other abnormal growths.

Toxicity

Can induce toxic effects such as red rash, vomiting, diarrhea if taken in high doses.
