Vitamin B2 or Riboflavin is water soluble vitamin of B complex group. It is crucial to the production of body energy and has antioxidant qualities. 

Role in the Body:

Riboflavin is essential for growth and general health. It functions as a part of a group of enzymes, which are involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. It is essential for normal tissue maintenance.

Sources

The best natural sources are milk , liver, yeast, cheese, green leafy vegetables and fruits such as papaya, raisins, custard apples and apricots.

Deficiency Symptoms.

Deficiency of Riboflavin may result in reddening and burning of tongue, cracked skin and lips with burning sensation. 

Healing and Therapeutic Properties.

The intake of Riboflavin in larger quantities from 25 to 50 mg or 25,000 to 50,000 mcg is beneficial in the treatment of nutritional deficiencies, cataract and other eye ailments, digestive disturbances, nervous depression and general debility.

Toxicity:

Toxic only in case of very high doses; minor, rare symptoms include itching and burning of the skin.
